The New Community Days Look
In the early 1990s, with the Township on the verge of unprecedented growth, the historically rural community began preparing. And while things like infrastructure and expanded government capabilities were the focus, the community also longed for a traditional “city center” or downtown to serve as the hub of the Township.
Enter the Municipal Center, which opened its doors in April 1991 in a former machine shop on Rochester Road. The layout of the building’s interior featured directional street signage and facades denoting individual rooms and offices, creating the semblance of a true town square.
Sitting atop the heavily remodeled building sat a clock tower, which members of the community requested to denote the town center. That striking tower has since been incorporated into features throughout the Municipal Center, symbolizing the building’s significance as the hub of Township and community activity.
The inclusion of the clock tower in the new Community Days logo denotes the trademark event’s significance and importance in bringing the community together and celebrating all things Cranberry Township.
