For decades, Dick Hadley dedicated his time, energy, and vision to shaping Cranberry Township into the thriving community it is today. As a long-time resident and Township supervisor, his leadership and passion left a lasting mark on everything from parks and recreation to community development. Now, through the Dick and Mary Jane Hadley Heritage Endowment, that legacy will continue for generations to come.
The Hadleys’ gift was inspired in part by other community members who have created endowments to support Cranberry’s future. “Dick worked so closely with people like Jerry Andree and Bruce Mazzoni, who gave back in that same way,” Mary Jane said. “It just felt right to continue that tradition and help the Township he loved so much.
For Mary Jane, a former art teacher at Rowan Elementary and a founding member of the Cranberry Artists Network, the endowment also represents an opportunity to nurture the arts—a cause close to her heart. “I see it as a continuation of how Cranberry has developed so far,” she said. “There’s still so much room to grow, especially in the arts. I want to help make that happen.”
She hopes others will consider creating endowments of their own to honor loved ones and support the community’s continued growth. “It’s a way to recognize all they’ve done and to keep developing what they worked so hard on,” Mary Jane said. “Cranberry is a wonderful place to live, and this is a way to keep it that way.”
