2014 Project of the Year Promoted Fitness, Encouraged Community Wellness

With health and wellness becoming a top priority for many, CTCC’s 2014 Project of the Year aimed to help people feel their best. As people looked for ways to stay active and get outdoors, CTCC took fitness to the next level – by bringing the gym to the parks!

Four outdoor fitness stations were installed at Graham and North Boundary Parks as part of the 2014 Project of the Year. The 26 fitness machines are not motorized; instead, users apply their body weight to achieve resistance. Each station includes machines focused on specific muscle groups designed to build core body strength, increase agility, and enhance flexibility. Users can also scan QR codes on the equipment to watch a video of how they are used. Machines can accommodate one to four adults simultaneously, and several are specifically designed to be operated from wheelchairs.

CTCC’s vision to install outdoor workout stations at Graham and North Boundary Parks was the first of its kind in Pennsylvania. While other parks in the area have individual exercise stations on trails where people can stop and do exercises, the Township park stations are located where people can socialize and work out simultaneously, giving residents a fun and free way to exercise while enjoying the parks.
